Your hair may undergo a lot of trauma everyday due to several factors such as pollution, extreme temperatures, poor habits and lifestyle, imbalanced diet, stress etc. One thing which really relieve your hair from most of the setbacks is the regular application of hair oil.

Why oiling hair is important?

Oiling is must to keep your hair nourished and healthy. A gentle head massage with a natural oil not only helps your hair to grow but also relaxes your mind.

Massaging improves blood circulation, which helps the follicles to receive more nutrition. As hair grows from a root at the bottom of a follicle under your skin, the blood in your scalp goes to the follicle which supplies oxygen and nutrients to the hair root.

How to apply?

It is a good practice to heat your oil till lukewarm before application. It helps in better absorption, as it increases the penetration capacity of oil. A nice lukewarm oil massage in circular motion will make you feel relaxed and also takes good care of your hair.

Regular oiling (2-3 times a week) your hair and keeping it overnight is known to be extremely beneficial for the hair. As it enhances the lubrication of the shaft and help to prevent hair breakage. You can wash your hair with a mild shampoo and lukewarm water on the next day. It is recommended not to go out after applying the oil. It may attract the dirt and damage the hair. Also avoid applying oil on uncleaned and sweaty hair.

Most of the people in today's generation face dandruff problems. Dry scalp can lead to dandruff and dandruff eventually results in hair fall. Always spare some time for the oiling, at least twice a week to keep your hair healthy and free from dandruff.

If your hair are extremely dry, you can just apply oil to your hair and then soak a towel in lukewarm water and wrap it around your head. This would make sure that oil penetrates well into the scalp.

Let's take a look at the benefits of oiling your hair regularly.

Our hair grows around 0.5 inches per month and about 6 inches per year. However, the growth of our hair depends on a lot of factors such as diet, hair care, age and also genetics. You can’t alter factors like age and genetics but tweaking diet can help a lot in improving condition of your hair.

ESSENTIAL MICRONUTRIENTS FOR HAIR GROWTH :-
Correcting a deficiency in any of these nutrients may help to treat hair loss and promote the rate of hair growth. Each micro-nutrient has a role to play in our body.

A
ll cells need vitamin A for growth and hair is the fastest growing tissue in the human body.
Vitamin A helps to make an oily substance called sebum which moisturizes the scalp and helps to keep hair healthy. It could also speed up the rate of hair growth and encourage the growth of thicker hair.

Vitamin A deficiency can result in damage to hair follicles and hair loss. Inadequate amounts can slow down your body's process of building new cells

Rich sources of Vitamin A :-

Strawberries, peppers, guavas and citrus fruits are all good sources of vitamin C.

4. VITAMIN D :

There is some evidence that having a vitamin D deficiency can cause hair loss. Vitamin D stimulates hair follicles so, when the body does not have enough, the hair may be affected.

The main source is sunlight exposure.
Egg yolk, oily fish, liver & mushrooms can provide smaller proportions of total vitamin D.

Hair Problems? Know all about it

Naturally healthy hair tips for all types of hair problems

Hair is the natural beauty, the gift of god which is an indicator of both social and professional status. It has a significant role in our society.

Our hair is a statement of style, an affirmation of beauty &
certainly an expression of self love. So, invest in your hair, it is the crown you never take off.

Hair exists in a variety of textures. Three main aspects of hair texture are the hair pattern, volume and consistency.

Long hair is a symbol of youth and beauty in women while virility and masculinity in men.

The most common conditions faced by people of today's generation are hair loss and dandruff which is taking a toll on their mental health.

It is normal for a certain amount of hair to fall out every day. Most of the time minor hair loss is just a sign that your body is growing new, healthy ones to replace old. People usually lose up to 100 hair each day but if you have noticed your hair are falling out more than usual, looks thinner, seems to be growing more slowly or not getting new hair growth then you need to pay more attention.

It is very important to know that a balanced diet makes our hair healthy naturally. Many people suffer from hair loss largely due to imbalanced diet, as food plays a vital role in the hair growth.

Make sure you are eating a well-balanced diet that includes adequate amounts of vitamins, minerals and proteins.

We often ignore the hair health which ultimately leads to problems like thinning of hair, hair fall, dryness, itchy scalp, split ends, dandruff and many more. Let's understand few of the major causes of the hair loss or hair problems.

CAUSES

Hair Problems - Hair Loss, Hair Fall, Dandruff, Damaged Hair, Split Hair, Grey Hair

1. Hereditary hair loss : Both genders may develop this and is the most common cause of hair loss worldwide. Inherited genes that cause hair follicles to shrink and eventually stop growing hair.

2. Stress factors :

Stress factor for hair loss
Hair loss due to excessive physical or emotional stress causes hormonal imbalance. This may be more easily controlled if the stress can be managed.
Stress can push hair follicles into a “resting” phase so that they don’t produce new hair strands. Over time, hair can fall out more easily, even if you’re just washing or combing it.

Stress also impacts digestion and body's absorption of vital nutrients.

3. Age : With age, most people notice some hair loss because hair growth slows down. At some point, hair follicles stop growing hair; which causes the hair thinning, graying and hairline naturally starts to recede.

The average lifespan of a single hair is 2-7 years; the hair then falls out and is replaced within 6 months by a new hair.

4. Pregnancy, Childbirth, Injury & other illnesses : During pregnancy or after delivery, any injury, recovering from an illness or if you had undergone any surgery, one may notice a lot more hair in brush or on pillow. This can also happen after a stressful time in your life.

5. Hairstyle pulls on your scalp :

Hair Thinning Problems due to tight hairstyles like tight braids, ponytails or buns
If you often wear your hair tightly pulled back, the continual pulling can lead to hair thinning & hair loss.
Don’t wear tight hairstyles like tight braids, ponytails or buns that put too much pressure on your hair. Over time, those styles can damage your hair follicles.

6. Hormonal imbalance : Women who develop a hormonal imbalance can develop hair thinning or hair loss. A common cause of this imbalance is poly-cystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS / PCOD).

7. Scalp infection & Dandruff :

Hair Fall and Hair Loss Due to Dandruff in Hair
Scalp infection can lead to some scaly & inflamed areas on your scalp. Ongoing mild inflammation of the scalp, resulting in scaly skin that may be itchy and flake off in the form of dandruff.

8. Thyroid Disease : Both of the conditions Hypothyroidism or Hyperthyroidism can cause dry, brittle hair or hair thinning and hair loss if they are prolong & go untreated.

When hormone production is disrupted, specifically of hormones T3 and T4, it affects other processes in our body, which includes the development of hair at the root. Hair falls out and may not be replaced by new growth, resulting in thinning of hair and hair loss.

9. Nutrient Deficiency : Lack of nutrients in daily diet can contribute to hair thinning & hair loss grossly.
Adequate levels of the following nutrients play a vital role in upholding healthy hair-

· Vitamin B-7 (Biotin) & B complex

· Vitamins A, C, D & E

· Calcium

· Zinc

· Iron

10. Styling products and tools are also common culprits in hair loss. Examples include:

· blow dryers

· heated combs

· hair straighteners

· coloring products

To avoid these hair problems, a healthy eating and a good care of your hair is very much important.
